Diethyl Ether has a flash point of -45°C (-49°F), classifying it as one of the most flammable common solvents. Its explosive limits are 1.85–48% in air — a wide range that makes ignition easy. It can also form explosive peroxides on exposure to air, light, and metals. It is classified as a Class 3 Flammable Liquid under Dangerous Goods regulations

It should be stored tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from light, and kept away from heat, sparks, and open flames. Avoid static discharge by grounding containers. Conditions to avoid include sparks, open flames, hot surfaces, and all sources of ignition, as it reacts vigorously with strong oxidizers and acids and may form explosive peroxides over time

Appropriate PPE including gloves, goggles, and a lab coat must be worn. Use only in fume hoods due to inhalation risk, and do not breathe the vapour — ensure adequate ventilation at all times. Waste solvent must be disposed of properly according to local regulations
